Who is the inventor of cricket?
Cricket is believed to have been invented in southern England. Some researchers claim that the game has been played since the early 13th century. In the early days, cricket was played by children in the countryside.
There is a consensus of expert opinion that cricket may have been invented during Saxon or Norman times by children living in the Weald, an area of dense woodlands and clearings in south-east England. The first reference to cricket being played as an adult sport was in 1611, and in the same year, a dictionary defined cricket as a boys' game. There is also the thought that cricket may have derived from bowls, by the intervention of a batsman trying to stop the ball from reaching its target by hitting it away.
Village cricket had developed by the middle of the 17th century and the first English “county teams” were formed in the second half of the century, as “local experts” from village cricket were employed as the earliest professionals. The first known game in which the teams use county names is in 1709.
Cricket is a team sport played by two teams, with eleven players per team. A fist-sized ball is hit by a player called a bowler, and the opponent, called a batsman, tries to block the ball with a thin, paddle-like racket.

In contrast, a half in cricket refers to a half of the game, while a half in baseball ends when three games are scored (with no ball restrictions) so a baseball championship is essentially a series of nine singles games. In baseball, players follow key positions on the field.
Baseball
Round like a baton with a tapered handle ending at a knob. It is no more than 2.625 inches in diameter at the thickest part and no more than 42 inches (1067 mm) in length. It typically weighs no more than 36 ounces (1 kg).
The core of the ball is cork, rubber or a mixture of the two and is sometimes layered. Legal weight for the ball in baseball is not to be under 5 ounces but never to be over 5 and a 1/4 ounces. A baseball is 9 to 9.25 inches in circumference.

A round handle on top with a flat wooden bottom. The rules of the game limit the allowable size for a bat as not more than 38 in (965 mm) long and the blade may not be more than 4.25 in (108 mm) wide. Bats weigh from 1.1 to 2.3 Kg (2.4 to 5lbs).
A cricket ball is made of cork and string and covered with red leather. the ball must weigh between 5.5 and 5.75 ounces (155.9 and 163.0 g) and measure between 8 13/16 and 9 in (224 and 229 mm) in circumference.

Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a cricket field, at the center of which is a rectangular 22-yard-long pitch with a wicket, a set of three wooden stumps sited at each end.
The basic principle for the two is same: Players of one team have to attempt to score runs by hitting the ball; at the same time players of the other team have to attempt to prevent the scoring and to put batting players out.
In cricket, players attempt to defend the wickets (3 wooden sticks), while in baseball players attempt to prevent the ball going to the strike zone. The delivery distance, from release of the ball by the pitcher (baseball)/bowler(cricket) to its arrival at the batter(baseball)/batsman(cricket), is almost same in both sports.
How is cricket played?
Cricket is played by two teams of 11 players each, who alternate hitting and throwing the ball. The batter stands in front of a set of wooden stands known as logs. The thrower tries to hit the stems with the ball to take the hitter out of the court. The hitter defends the stems and tries to hit the ball as quickly as possible.
SCORING
The batters can run after the ball is hit. A run is scored each time they change places on the pitch. The team with the highest number of runs (typically in the hundreds) wins the match.
THE GAME IS OVER WHEN
Sides take turns batting and fielding. Each at-bat, called an "over," comprises no more than six bowls per batsman. The fielding team must retire or dismiss 10 batsmen to end the innings (always plural). World Cup matches are limited to one inning per team and a limit of 50 overs per inning. Non-elimination games are limited to a single day. Elimination games are allowed a second day if needed.
